Charles and his brother Will Johnson came to Smyth County approximately 1875 from Nebraska. Greatgrandpa Charles settled at Seven Mile Ford, and his brother Will settled in Wythe Co. VA. Charles bought a small Farm from a McCrady. This is known as the Clayt Freeman Place on Goodman Hill approximately one mile on right past the Christian Church. His son Britton lived there with him until he died June 1927 and the farm was then sold. Charles married Susie Elizabeth Mahalia Katherine (Fattus) Johnson. He is buried about 20 feet to the right of the gate at Middle Fork Cemetary. Susie is buried in Sulphur Springs Cemetary on Rt. 107. Susie and Charles Children are

7. Britton married Lora (Heath)(Osborne). My Grandfather George Harrison Johnson married Mary Ella Snow. They had ten children, only four are still living, my father Wade b.1935, aunts Viola Grace b. ?, and Mattie b. 1915, and uncle Gordon b.1911. The other children deceased are Leslie Edward b.1913, Pauline Gay b.1917, Wiley Hobart b.1920, Mary Gleen b.1923, George Gilbert b.1925, and Ethel Evelyn b.1931. My father Wade married my mother Bessie Elizabeth Parks b.1935 dau. of Ruben Parks of FlatRidge. My mother died in 1984. She worked 25+ years at the State Mental Hospital in Marion and my Father was in the Navy about 16 years, he works presently for VA Department of Corrections in Marion. My brother Wayne and I are Masons presently working for Oakstone Properties at Marion Middle School (1996). We began commercial work for Byrd and Goff Const.Co., of Glade Spring about 8 years ago and have worked at VA Tech, VA hospital in Johnson City TN, State Hospital in Marion, ECU in Greenville NC, NASA Wallops Island, prisons, Wal-Marts and Eastman. My brother Wade Jr. divorced and remarried. My father married Shirley Kirk of Marion after my mothers death. My brother Robert is married to Angie Davenport. Wayne Anthony (Andy) Johnson Jr. b.1990 in Marion VA is the son of Wayne Anthony and Sandra (Pennington) Johnson. Not in picture are sons Wade Shelby Johnson Jr. b.1958 in Marion VA, and Robert Leslie Johnson b.1974 in Marion VA.
